Leo Messi's last game at Camp Nou was on 16 May 2021. At that time, Ronald Koeman was in charge of the Catalan side and the fans had no idea that they were living the final moments of the Argentine legend in the Barcelona shirt, which he swapped for PSG in the summer.
The image of No.10 at Camp Nou could soon be repeated if the schedules work out. Inter Miami managing director Xavier Asensi did not rule it out when asked about it by 'Mundo Deportivo' in an interview published on Monday.
"It's a scheduling issue. The 2020 game was part of the tour we were able to prepare for. Since we played the Leagues Cup, we don't have the possibility of playing a friendly. In January or December, we can't know if it will fit in the calendar," he said. "If I imagine Messi at the inauguration of the new Camp Nou? It depends on when it is. We will talk about it," he continued.
"I am very happy that all four [Leo Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez] are here. For me, it's a privilege to enjoy the four of them on the pitch again. I enjoyed them at Barca and now at Inter Miami, I'm privileged. I don't know how people perceive it, but for us it's a privilege.
"They have put MLS on the map. A lot of people know about MLS because Messi plays. Just like when Beckham came to Los Angeles, then Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Villa," he added.
