It's still not known what will happen with Lionel Messi's future. The Argentine star ends his contract at Paris Saint-Germain in June 2023 and at the moment he still hasn't come to an agreement to renew with the side from the French capital for next season.
In the latest hours, 'L'Equipe', published a report showing the eye-watering figures that the Argentine earns in France. According to them, Messi earns €3.375 million per month.
PSG want to keep him in the squad, but they can't afford that amount of money next season. The board have to balance their books to stay within the 'Financial Fair Play' guidelines which govern European football.
The French champions are not feeling optimistic about it. Therefore, 'L'Equipe' claim that Messi' future is looking further and further away from the Parc des Princes, as the Parisian side can't afford to keep Messi, Neymar and Mbappe together in the side.
Taking into account that the Brazilian and the Frenchman are still under contract, PSG won't be pulling out the stops to stop Messi going. Allowing the Argentine to go on a free is the most simple route to improving their financial situation that the French side have.
For now, nothing's been officially confirmed, but what's for sure is that the number 30 will have to choose where he wants to play next season. Meanwhile, Barcelona have started a plan to be able to welcome the Argentine back in their side.
The United States and Saudi Arabia have still not given up and are both studying the possibility of getting Messi on board would could see him earn a lot, just as has happened with Cristiano Ronaldo.
