Inter Miami's Sergio Busquets was sent off in Saturday's humiliating 6-1 loss to Cincinnati with two straight yellows in a matter of 10 seconds for protesting the referee. This is the fourth time in his career that the former Barcelona player has been sent to the dressing room early.
The only red card in his career came in 2012 in a Champions League match against Benfica. The other two dismissals, both double yellow cards, came in La Liga - in 2009 against Real Madrid and in 2022 against Rayo Vallecano.
Down 5-1 against Cincinnati, Busquets protested to the referee about a foul on Ecuador's Leonardo Campana on Deandre Yedlin.
The referee gave him a yellow card, Busquets continued with his complaints and the referee showed him a new caution just a few seconds later and sent off the Spaniard in the 62nd minute.
Without Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez for the Copa America and Jordi Alba and Diego Gomez on suspension, Martino put Busquets at centre-back alongside Serhiy Kryvtsov.
