Newcastle are in advanced talks with AC Milan to sign Sandro Tonali in the next transfer window. The Italian could join the Magpies for 80 million euros, according to Italian reports.
The 23-year-old is willing to sign a five-year contract with an option for a sixth. The midfielder could earn ten million euros per season. The English club have convinced him to play a key role in their future plans.
Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth travelled to northern Italy to negotiate his transfer, according to 'Il Corriere della Sera'. After getting the player's green light, they contacted Milan and offered 70 million euros plus add-ons for him.
Tonali will become the most expensive Italian player of all time if the transfer is completed, overtaking Jorginho, for whom Chelsea paid €57 million to Napoli.
