Chelsea have announced the signing of 22-year-old Villarreal striker, Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese international has agreed to an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge, after the Blues paid over his £30 million release clause to ensure more favourable payment terms.
Jackson scored 12 goals and provided five assists across last season, helping his side finish 5th in La Liga. He leaves Villarreal after four seasons and his new contract will see him as a Blue until 2031.
Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said in Chelsea's statement: "We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season".
"We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea teammates", it continued.
He is the second Chelsea signing this summer under new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, following the arrival of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig earlier this month.
