The Spanish national team will face two matches against Denmark and Switzerland during this international break to close the first phase of the Nations League. They only have first place in the group at stake.
But Luis de La Fuente wants to maintain the level of demand in these last two matches. In his call-up, he did not reserve any players apart from those who were forced to leave the squad, such as Lamine Yamal. But already in the last match, he had to make last-minute changes.
Aston Villa centre-back Pau Torres was dropped through injury and the coach was quick to inform the RFEF of his replacement. The chosen one is Pau Cubarsi, who could have made the first squad list, but the stitches he suffered in the match against Red Star led the coach to be cautious with the young centre-back. Seeing that he was able to play against Real Sociedad with a mask and without problems, he has decided to list him with La Roja.
Pau Cubarsi will arrive at the Spanish national team training camp this afternoon to join the training sessions and be available before travelling to Denmark, where Spain have their first game of the double-header.
The Barcelona defender, who has also settled in with Hansi Flick despite his youth, has already played four international matches with the Spanish national team before this call-up. He will join Aymeric Laporte, Aitor Paredes and Dani Vivian in defence.
