On Wednesday evening, multiple English media sources were reporting that ex-Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is being considered to take up the reins once more.
The board made it official on Thursday on social media: "Frank Lampard returns as Caretaker Manager until the end of the season," they wrote on Twitter.
Moreover, the Blues welcomed him on their website: "The move marks a return to Stamford Bridge for Frank who enjoyed an illustrious playing career with the Blues, winning the Premier League on three occasions and the UEFA Champions League in Munich."
"He managed the club for 84 competitive matches, including guiding us to an FA Cup final."
