Atletico Madrid completed the signing of Romanian national team goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan, for whom they have paid the 800,000 euros of his termination clause to Rapid Bucharest and who has signed for the next three and a half years to replace Ivo Grbic, who is leaving to Sheffield United, as second-choice goalkeeper.
Moldovan's arrival at Atletico, who announced his arrival through their official channels this morning, is now official. His debut in the squad list should be as early as Thursday's Copa del Rey last 8 clash against Sevilla at the Civitas Metropolitano stadium.
Moldovan will be the 'Colchoneros' second-choice goalkeeper. "It's a dream come true. It will be the biggest competition I've had so far. Oblak is probably the best goalkeeper in the world," says the 26-year-old goalkeeper, who turned 26 last Saturday and was also approached by Betis.
He made the last of his 113 appearances in the last four seasons for Rapid Bucharest on Friday in a 4-3 win over Craiova, the team that propelled him to the Romania national team, where he started eight of 10 matches in the successful Euro 2024 qualifiers.
