It's official. Rodrygo Goes has extended his contract with 'Los Blancos' until 2028 and is expected to have a buyout clause of one billion euros. His compatriot Vinicius Jr also renewed his contract in the last few days and both will be able to continue improving Madrid's attack.
The 22-year-old signed for the club in the summer of 2018 from Santos. The Spanish giants paid around 45 million euros for the player, who could not join until January 2019, when he came of age.
That second half of the season, he played 1,400 minutes in 26 games (seven goals and two assists), as well as playing three games with their academy. One of his best nights as a Madrid player came in the second leg of the semi-final against Manchester City in the 2021/22 campaign.
Madrid were 5-3 down on aggregate but he came on in the 68th minute and scored twice in 89 seconds to force extra-time, with Benzema finishing the job off. Nor should it be forgotten that he was responsible for bringing the last Copa del Rey to the Madrid outfit, as he scored both goals in the final against Osasuna.
