Xavi took the reigns of Barca in November 2021. He took over Ronald Koeman's place and the club couldn't be happier with his work.
He initially signed a deal until 2024, but Barca don't want him to go so soon. That's why, according to 'Sport', the Camp Nou bosses have got 'Operation Xavi' underway.
The Catalan side are thought to have come to a deal to renew their coach. The club are planning to renew him for two more years, until June 2026.
Xavi is grateful for Barcelona's gesture, but he doesn't want to think about his future just yet. The manager would prefer to wait for the current season to end to make his mind up. It's because his side are going for the La Liga title: they're 12 points clear at the top with Real Madrid their closest rivals, as well as still being in the Copa del Rey, where they're in fact playing against their enternal rivals.
The coach is happy at the club, but he knows he wants a competitive side to continue at the helm. Inigo Martinez, Ilkay Gundogan and a left-back, according to the Catalan newspaper, are thought to have been what the boss asked for for the 2023-24 season, provided that it could be carried out due to the 'Financial Fair Play' rules.
