Barcelona is anxious to have the financial capacity to bring in players. While trying to reach the 1:1 rule that would give them relief in the market, they are pulling in young players in pre-season games. Nobody is taking advantage of this more than Pau Victor.
For fans who don't follow Barcelona too closely, they might think he has come out of 'La Masia'. However, the new 'Cule' star is one of this summer's signings... for Barca Atletic.
His good last season in the reserve team, where he played on loan, convinced Barcelona to sign him this summer from Girona. In the first few games he has responded to the confidence placed in him by Flick.
He already scored his first goal for the first team against Manchester City, but there is no better stage in the world of football than to shine in a 'Clasico', no matter how much of a pre-season game it is.
That's what Pau Victor has done, and given the lack of players still on holiday and signings, with Dani Olmo and Nico Williams on the club's radar, he has shown himself to Flick as a solution, as Fermin did last year.
Barcelona still have one more game to play in the United States, against Milan, before returning to Spain, where they will play Monaco at the Joan Gamper. From there, the 2024/25 season begins.
