Barcelona return to La Liga action after thrashing Real Madrid in a 4-0 goal fest during 'El Clasico' last week, as they host Espanyol at the Estadio Olmpico Lluis Companys on Sunday. The derby will be played despite the devastating floods that have hit the Valencia region, killing at least 211 people this week.
Multiple managers from Spanish clubs have called for all the league matches to be scrapped due to the critical circumstances, though only Villareal-Rayo Vallecano and Valencia-Real Madrid have been officially called off so far. Barca boss Hansi Flick has also suggested postponing the games, as he said: "For me it's a tragedy, If I could make the decision maybe I would postpone the matches".
In respect of the victims, Barca states that "a minute's silence will be observed prior to the game in memory of the over 200 lives that have been lost," while also announcing that they will auction off "the jerseys worn in the game to raise funds for the relief efforts". The clash will also be preceded by a number of recognitions for certain 'Azulgrana' players, as confirmed by the club. Aitana Bonmati will be presenting her second Ballon d'Or, with Lamine Yamal doing the same with his Kopa Trophy. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski will be receiving his Liga Player of the Month award for October.
The Catalans sit at the top of the table with a a six point cushion over Madrid, as Flick's men look to continue their scintillating start to the season and claim their 11th win. On the other hand, Espanyol will want to get back to winning ways after two consecutive losses in the league against Athletic Bilbao, and more recently, against Sevilla. The 'Periquitos' have endured a tough opening to their campaign as they sit in 17th position, just one point safe from the relegation zone.

Espanyol possible starting XI (5-3-2): Garcia; Tejero, El Hilali, Kumbulla, Cabrera, Romero; Aguado, Kral, Carreras; Cheddira, Puado.
