Paris Saint-Germain have a difficult choice to make. Once Kylian Mbappe has informed them that he will not renew his contract beyond 2024, they must decide whether to sell him this summer or let him leave for free the following summer.

For yet another summer, the name of Kylian Mbappe is back in the transfer market. Just when it seemed like the summer was going to be the quietest, everything has blown up at the Parc des Princes.
The French striker had until 31st July to inform the Parisian club whether he was going to renew his contract for one more season, until 2025, or whether he was going to reject it.
On Monday, 'L'Equipe' reported that Mbappe had already informed Paris Saint-Germain of his intention not to renew his contract beyond the end of next season.
PSG must now decide whether they want to keep the player who has been their star player in recent years, and for whom they have risked their present and part of their future, or sell him and start rebuilding from scratch.
Leo Messi's departure seemed to have been an incentive for the Frenchman to stay at home, at the Parc des Princes. Even more so considering that Neymar could follow the same path.
But Mbappe's decision has caught the Parisian club on the wrong foot. They did not expect this resolution, or at least not so soon.
Real Madrid had decided to wait until 2024 to try to sign Kylian Mbappe. They were not going to repeat what they had seen in the summer of 2021, just a year before the Frenchman's previous contract with PSG expired.
However, the French striker's choice not to renew, combined with PSG's decision to sell him this summer, has put Real Madrid back in pole position.
Real Madrid could have waited this summer without signing a top class '9' to wait for Mbappe, but everything has changed. Now, they can make another big effort - remember the signing of Bellingham - to get ahead of the big teams in Europe.
After years of back and forth, and when Real Madrid least expected it, the 'Merengues' can get the player they have coveted for so many years.
