PSG were fined in September for breaking 'Financial Fair Play' rules. They will have to pay €65 million which, according to 'L'Equipe', could mean it is difficult for the club to make Messi a tempting renewal offer.

PSG are trying to get Leo Messi a new deal as his current contract is up in June. The Parc des Princes board are aware that a lot of clubs are interested in getting the Argentine on board, especially because he could leave on a free. Barcelona are among those who would be up for getting him if they have the chance.
PSG have faith that Messi will sign a contract with them. However, 'L'Equipe' claim that they may have problems in getting him to sign on.
UEFA's 'Financial Fair Play' fine that they gave to PSG is €65 million. Therefore, it is undoubtedly a figure which will make the club have to rethink certain expenses.
The French paper explained that, as well as the €65 million fine, PSG will have to go up against Mbappe's salary, which went up considerably in May after he signed a new contract, rejecting Real Madrid. This is yet another reason why a new contract for Messi could be up in the air.
PSG are hoping to find another way to be able to put another good offer on the table for the Argentinian. They realise that time is going by and all the while, Messi is being fought over. We will have to wait and see how this whole episode ends up.
