PSV lure Madrid and United for Gakpo: "Let's see if any club will pay a lot of money"
Marcel Brands, PSV's sporting director, made clear in 'Euwig Trow' his intention to negotiate for Cody Gakpo, one of the sensations of the World Cup in Qatar, if he receives a big offer in January. At the moment, the main suitors are Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Cody Gakpo has been on fire at the World Cup in Qatar. A starter for the Netherlands, he scored goals in three consecutive matches, played a great game and was eliminated in a penalty shoot-out against Argentina in the quarter-finals. Looking ahead to the second half of the season, his good work could see him leave PSV in a month's time when the transfer window opens.
His club's own sporting director Marcel Brands admitted this to the media outlet 'Euwig Trow'. "Only 10-12 clubs can pay what Cody Gakpo is worth in January. If it happens, it has to be a record sale for PSV and also the right bid for Cody's plans. We don't have any official offers yet. Let's see if any club pays a lot in January," he said, asked directly about the Dutchman.
At the moment, the main suitors are Real Madrid and Manchester United. Both entities are financially strong enough to put on the table a sum that satisfies the owners of the player, who, for the moment, has never changed clubs as a professional. He was formed in his current squad and progressed there until he became important in the Eredivisie, where he is now one of the best players.
For the Red Devils, this possible addition may be more necessary than for the Spaniards, as, with the abrupt departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, there is a free space to fill in Erik ten Hag's line-ups. Moreover, the 'Merengues' are close to closing an investment of 60 million euros plus 12 million euros in taxes for Endrick, a promising young player from Palmeiras who comes of age in 2024.
