Real Madrid give green light to the start of the electoral process

After announcing a week ago a meeting between Florentino Perez and the board of directors for Tuesday, Madrid announced that they have given the green light to call elections for the presidency of the club.
"The president, having heard the board of directors meeting held on Tuesday, and in accordance with article 38 section b of Real Madrid's articles of association, has asked the electoral board to initiate the procedure for calling elections for president and board of directors," the club said in the statement.
The newspaper ‘AS’ has informed of the deadlines to be followed for the presentation of candidatures: the period will run from 9th January to 18th January. It is possible that Florentino Perez will once again be the only candidate, so that on 19th January he will be re-elected as president of the club.
The businessman has had no rival since his return to the public eye in 2009. A year in which he began his second stint as president of Real Madrid to chain 4 consecutive processes (2009, 2013, 2017 and 2021). Everything indicates that he will begin his 7th mandate, the 5th in a row.
