Cristiano Ronaldo was in the spotlight in the Saudi Arabian Super Cup semi-final, but not in the way he wanted. The Portuguese striker, who came close to assaulting the referee, was sent off.
First of all, the No 7 lost his temper with an Al Hilal opponent when he wasted time at 2-0 down. He tried to make a quick throw-in and ended up seeing the referee send him to the dressing room before time.
Cristiano Ronaldo then pretended to hit the ball with his fist to hit it on the referee's head. In the end, he did not do so and left the pitch clapping ironically.
The final straw was that Al Hilal ended up beating Al Nassr 2-1. Salem Al-Dawsari and Malcom scored the goals for their opponents, while Sadio Mane closed the gap in stoppage time.
