Al Nassr faced Al Hilal in the Arab Club Champions Cup final at the King Fahd Stadium on Saturday. Both Saudi teams were looking to lift their first trophy of the season but it was Luis Castro's men who took home the title.
Both clubs have great football stars in their squads such as Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Seko Fofana, among others. Saudi Arabia has emerged as a force in the football transfer market this year, offering eye-watering salaries that have lured a host of big names to the oil-rich Gulf kingdom.
Jorge Jesus' side started the game pressing high and got the lead at half-time through Michael's low finish. The Brazilian striker put his team into a dominant position and celebrated his goal in the style of Cristiano Ronaldo.
This act unleashed chaos in the second half. The Portuguese star scored the equaliser in the 74th minute to give his team a better chance. Al Nassr right-back Al Ghannam crossed from the right flank and the striker shot from close range.
But one goal was not enough for the former Manchester United player. The 38-year-old sent his team into extra time and headed home the winner to win the first title of the season.
However, it's not all good news for Al Nassr. Ronaldo had to be replaced in the 115th minute due to injury. He was unable to leave the pitch under his own steam. Ali Al Hassan took his place.
The striker reportedly injured his left knee and was stretched off but was able to pull himself together to celebrate the title with his teammates.
