Monaco started off strongly, but it was Arsenal who headed into the break with the lead as Bukayo Saka netted from Gabriel Jesus' low cross in the 34th minute. the Gunners were wasteful with their chances as Odegaard and Martinelli missed a couple of big opportunities to put the game to bed early on. But their mistakes were countered by even bigger ones from their opponents. Salisu's miss-placed pass in front of goal gifted Arsenal a second goal in the 78th minute before Kehrer touched the ball into his own net from Saka's shot.
