Chelsea are still struggling to climb the Premier League table before the end of the season but they are likely to miss out on another campaign of European competition, which is uncharacteristic of the English club's history.
The Blues are 11th on 39 points, just below clubs such as Newcastle, Wolves, Brighton & Hove Albion, West Ham and Manchester United, among others. They have been plagued by injuries this term but are unable to get their players back.
And the bad news keeps on coming at Stamford Bridge. Spanish goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has rejoined the club's injury list after missing several games this season through injury.
Meanwhile, Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Romeo Lavia, who will miss the rest of the season, Christopher Nkunku and Lesley Ugochukwu will also be unavailable for their side's next Premier League match against Burnley.
