After two top-class performances against Las Palmas in La Liga and RC Lens in the Champions League, Sevilla centre-back Sergio Ramos will be giving his body a break and will not be playing on La Liga Matchday 6 at Osasuna.
The Spanish defender is suffering from a "slight muscular strain", announced the club when revealing the 22-man squad called up for the trip to Navarre, adding that this choice had been made "as a precaution".
The 37-year-old had not played a single minute since last June, nor had he been involved in pre-season training with his club. With two matches in just four days, Ramos has been forced to rest.
Mendilibar's side will be looking for their second consecutive win in the domestic championship after claiming a narrow victory over Las Palmas last weekend.
