Arsenal's midfield has been the focus of their summer, as the Gunners lost Granit Xhaka to Bayer Leverkusen, but have boosted their squad with the arrivals of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.
The new arrivals have raised questions about the future of Thomas Partey, who at 30 years old is now one of the squad's oldest members, and many had pegged him for a departure.
The Ghanaian international had received interest from Juventus and Saudi Pro-League club, Al Ahli, but now manager Mikel Arteta has declared an exit may not be on the cards after all.
The Spaniard in fact left little room for doubt when asked if he believed the midfielder to stay: "Yes", he declared. "Thomas is a super important player for us.. and I would want him to be in the team, that's for sure".
He continued, dispelling rumours of desire on the player's part for a move: "Every time I had a conversation with him, he says he wants to stay with us. There is nothing there at all".
