Taking A Look At New Zealand Football Championship: Teams, Competitions, Fanbase & Bets

Since 2021, it is simply called the New Zealand National League and has a total of eight teams. During its almost 17 years, the Championship sought to provide professional club soccer and grow interest in the sport across New Zealand.
Just like European leagues, the NZ National League has two seasons: the regular and the playoffs. The league has no promotion or relegation; the same roosters compete each season.
In the first four Regular Seasons, each rooster played against other teams thrice. However, due to a lack of finances, they decided to allow teams to meet only twice, summing up 18 games. The NZ calculator system is also the usual: three points for a win, one for the same number of goals and zero points for the losing team. After each rooster finishes playing, the top-performing four will advance to playoffs.
The playoffs have two semi-finals and a Grand Final with the winners. The best two teams from the NZFC will also qualify for the OFC Champions League to compete against other countries.
Auckland City has already gathered 12 titles from winning the NZ National League and another eight from winning the season's Grand Final. The team's coach, Albert Riera, trained the rooster to adapt on the field and be able to defend but also strategically attack when needed.
The most amazing performance was in 2017, in Hong Kong, at the friendly event Lunar New Year Cup. There, Auckland City scored and beat Seoul FC (South Korean team, and Kitchee (Hong Kong's team) and won the competition. Two years later, however, at the same Championship, they lost against Shandong Luneng (Chinese team).
Jake Butler has been a stalwart midfielder at Brunswick City. The talented defensive midfielder has made a record 257 league appearances since its career debut at Bay Olympic in 2002. In his glory period, he was the captain of Waitakere United and managed to get four titles for the team.
Alongside Waitakere United, Jake Butler scored 14 times and had 60 appearances. He has seven titles under his belt, five New Zealand Football Championships and two OFC Champions League. The footballer is not sure how long his player career will stand, given his age, but his passion and perfectionism stand still.
Emiliano came from Argentina and has remained Auckland's forward since 2020. The football player was part of Auckland's roster between 2011 and 2018; after that, he was loaned one year to Club Atlético Mitre. After the loan, the Argentinian played one year for AmaZulu and another for Mamelodi Sundowns before coming back to his dear Auckland.
Auckand's fans believe in him because he has already scored 58 goals for the club in 95 appearances. His game tactics are impeccable, and numerous international football clubs offered him deals, but he stayed faithful to Auckland City.
