Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag spoke ahead of the Red Devils' upcoming Premier League clash with Southampton on Saturday.
One of the things the Dutchman was asked about was Tyrell Malacia's injury, the defender according to the manager is progressing ‘really well’ in his recovery and is closer to a return.
“We want to motivate him to return, but it’s not so easy when you are so long away. Over a season now from an injury to return, but he’s working very hard, he’s progressing really well in this moment," said Ten Hag.
"He’s making big steps, so we think, at short notice, we can expect him in the team training, and he is a talent, it’s natural. I expect also, soon, he can return into games then.”
The 25-year-old had been sidelined by injury since the 2022/23 season in which he made 39 appearances for the Old Trafford club, so last season he was a mere observer on the pitch, particularly in the team's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
