Tottenham appeal against length of Bentancur's FA suspension
Spurs have confirmed their decision to appeal against the FA's 7-match suspension of Bentancur. The North London club recognise that the midfielder is guilty of the findings by the independent regulatory commission, but believe that his sanction is too "severe".

The Football Association (FA) confirmed on Monday that Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been handed a 7-match suspension following his insensitive comments towards teammate Heung-Min Son.
Bentancur"abusive and/or insulting words" constituted an "aggrated breach of the FA Rule E3 in relation to a media interview... and Rule E3.2, as it included a reference – whether express or implied – to nationality and/or race and/or ethnic origin," read the statement from the body.
Spurs have confirmed on Wednesday their decision to contest the suspension. While the club accepts the independent regulatory commission's findings, it also believes that the sanction imposed on the player is too "severe".
While the ban does not apply for Tottenham's Europa League games, the Uruguayan will miss out on Premier League and EFL Cup games against Man City, Fulham, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Southampton, Manchester United and Liverpool. It remains to be seen whether the appeal is accepted by the FA.
