Spanish-Colombian centre-back Cristhian Mosquera will remain at Valencia until June 2026 following the execution of a clause in his contract whereby the player would automatically renew his contract if he completes a certain number of games, according to 'EFE'.
The centre-back, who has become a permanent player in Ruben Baraja's starting line-up and has started all of Valencia's league games since October, will remain linked for another year with the team he was brought up in and where he made his debut under Jose Bordalas in January 2022 at the age of just 17.
The player started this season as the fourth centre-back, behind Mouctar Diakhaby, Gabriel Paulista and Cenk Ozkacar, but Baraja's decision to place the French-Guinean as a pivot and his emergence in the first few games made the coach continue to trust Mosquera as a starter.
His good performances have made him one of the youngest players to adapt to La Liga, playing 1,902 minutes this season, and he is expected to be called up by the U21 national team in the next list, although he was not called up in September or October.
Mosquera is the youngest defender to play so many consecutive games since Miguel Tendillo in 1979 and one of the youngest players in Valencia's history to accumulate so many games in the elite.
