Bayern are the obvious favourites on the basis of their recent history in the Champions League. Arsenal, in contrast, beat Porto on penalties in the last 16 to reach the last eight for the first time since 2010.
However, Mikel Arteta's team are enjoying a fine season and are currently top of the Premier League, while Bayern are off the pace at the top of the Bundesliga in what is their final season under Tuchel.
"It’s a beautiful game to play. We are going to be playing against a team that are very experienced in the competition and the players that they have are amazing, but we have good momentum. We are really excited to face them and see if we can go through," said Arsenal sporting director Edu after the draw in Nyon.
"The way the players and the team are performing is very exciting. We are playing at our best at the moment, so let’s carry on playing the way we are playing and see how far we can go," he concluded.
