Thibaut Courtois has undoubtedly had the toughest season of his career. The Belgian goalkeeper finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel this weekend when he made his return to the pitch in Real Madrid's La Liga match against Cadiz at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Courtois did not even have time to start the campaign when a cruciate ligament injury forced him out of action for more than six months, but another blow was yet to come. Just as the former Chelsea goalkeeper was close to a return to action, a meniscus injury in his knee delayed his first appearance of the 2023/24 season by another two months.
The Belgium international was finally able to make his first appearance for the 'Merengues' as he started in his side's win over Cadiz, which crowned them as La Liga champions when Barcelona were beaten by Girona hours later. Check out what the Madrid goalkeeper had to say after his emotional return to action.
