Manchester City won the UEFA Super Cup for the first time but needed penalties to beat Sevilla after a 1-1 draw in Athens.
The Sky Blues were then perfect from the spot and prevailed 5-4 in the shootout after Sevilla defender Nemanja Gudelj smashed against the bar. This is the fourth title Pep Guardiola's side have won in 2023.
Kyle Walker, who netted a crucial penalty in the English side's victory, revealed manager Pep Guardiola's talk before the penalty shoot-out.
"We've got in a hundle and normally when we've been in the penalty shoot-outs before, the manager always says: 'Well, if you feel confident on that time, you know, put your hand up'.
"And he would then make the decision on the five people that put their hands up and in which order. So I'm thinking he's going to do the same again. I'm stood at the back. Get me out. Right at the back.
"I don't want to be involved in it. So he's got us in the hotel room. 'Okay, so this time I'm going yo choose the penalties'. Because bearing in mind we just lost at penalties to Arsenal," he added.
