Tyrone Mings's injury woes continued as Aston Villa hosted West Ham on matchday 23 of the Premier League on Sunday. The Englishman endured a painful challenge but kept playing after receiving medical treatment.
But it became clear that he could not continue for much longer as he left the pitch in tears to make way for his teammate Ian Maatsen in the 38th minute. It appeared to be a knee problem once again for the Villa centre-back.
Mings suffered a serious knee injury on the opening weekend of the 2023/24 season, which ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign. He only made his return in October of this year after more than 14 months on the sidelines.
While the extent of the 31-year-old's injury this time round is unknown, it leaves Villa vulnerable in defence, especially with the recent departure of Diego Carlos. The Brazilian has been allowed to leave for Fenerbahce but Unai Emery's side are yet to sign a replacement.
