Vincic to referee Spain v Italy at Euro 2024

Slavko Vincic will referee the second meeting between Spain and Italy at the European Championship. The Slovenian, who refereed the last Champions League final, has been chosen for the meeting between the two national teams.

Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic has been appointed to referee Thursday's match between Spain and Italy in the second matchday of Group B of the European Championship, to be played at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen.
Born in Maribor 44 years ago, he was in charge of the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on 1 June, in which Carlo Ancelotti's side won 2-0 to claim their 15th European title, as well as the Europa League final between Eintracht and Rangers at Sevilla's Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium in 2021.
It will be the second meeting between Spain and Italy that he has officiated following the Nations League semi-final between the two sides last year, which Luis de la Fuente's side won 2-1 with a Joselu Mato goal.
The Slovenian, who refereed Argentina's opening game at the last World Cup in Qatar 2022, which ended in an unexpected defeat to Saudi Arabia, refereed four matches at the last European Championship, while Thursday's game will be his second at Germany 2024.
Vincic will be assisted on the sidelines by his compatriots Tomaz Klancnik and Andraz Kovacic, the fourth official will be Clement Turpin and Nejc Kajtazovic will be in charge of the VAR.
