Vinicius Junior was Real Madrid's matchwinner in their game against Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on Saturday. The Brazilian scored from 12 yards to break the deadlock after an intense first hour, shining again for 'Los Blancos', though his performance does not seem to be the main topic of conversations.
Having received sticks for majority of the time the forward had possession - as whistles echoed around the stadium - Vinicius took the opportunity to get back at the crowd after netting the ball past Alex Remiro from the spot. The player ran towards the corner flag and sushed the fans with a gesture in attempt to silence them.
Former Real Madrid striker Pedja Mijatovic was not pleased with Vinicius' response, openly criticising the number seven in an interview with 'Sport'. "He’s throwing stones at his own roof. He’s throwing stones, especially knowing everything that’s going on around him. He should take this step, calm down a little. We were very happy with the goal, but then we were very disappointed with the celebration. Why does he need this? He’s doing himself a lot of harm. I speak to many Real Madrid fans who love him, but we’re all upset with his behaviour".
This is not the first time the Brazilian superstar has received disapproval for “antagonising” supporters. Whether Vinicius Junior pays heed to Mijatovic's advice, it remains to be seen. For now, the forward will have his mind on Real Madrid's match in the Champions League against Stuttgart at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.
