The Bavarians were stunned by Davide Frattesi's 88th-minute winner just minutes after they thought they had rescued a draw with Thomas Muller's equaliser. Defeat leaves Bayern Munich in a tricky position ahead of next Wednesday's second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Inter.
Harry Kane had the chance to open the scoring just over the half-hour mark when the Germans were still dominating the game. But the former Tottenham Hotspur star struck the ball onto the far post, failing to put the ball in the back of the net from Michael Olise's pass.
Nevertheless, Kane urged his side not to lose hope, as he insisted that a place in the semi-finals remains well within Bayern's grasp. "We know what we have to do now. We have to go there and win the game - and that's what we plan to do," the 31-year-old told 'Sky Sport' post-match.
The Englishman also took to social media to instill hope and belief among supporters, sending a message ahead of next week's second leg at the San Siro. "Disappointing result last night, but lots of good things we can take from the game. Tie isn’t over! All to play for next week," he wrote.
