West Ham United intend to officially announce Julen Lopetegui this week to end speculation over their bench following the reported departure of David Moyes. The Scottish manager has been at West Ham since 2019 and left the club on Sunday in a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City that handed Pep Guardiola's men the title.
West Ham want to announce Lopetegui in the next few days and will not unveil him in society, along with manager Tim Steidten and sporting director Mark Noble, for a few weeks after Moyes' contract expires on June 30.
Lopetegui, who has been without a club since last summer when he left Wolverhampton Wanderers, agreed a deal with West Ham several days ago and has already had meetings to plan for next season. These meetings with the English club will be replicated this week ahead of the official announcement confirming Lopetegui's return to the Premier League after saving Wolves from relegation in the 2022/23 season.
The Spaniard's priority was always to remain in the Premier League and he was in talks with Nottingham Forest before they signed Nuno Espirito Santo before signing for West Ham.
