Jordi Alba announced his departure from Barcelona at the end of the season in a video on Wednesday. He joins Sergio Busquets in the ranks of legends leaving this summer, and both put an end to a memorable team at the top of the squad.
With the loss of two of its captains, Barca will have to look for a new left-back and two new captains. Regarding the latter, 'AS' reports that Xavi Hernandez, the 'Cule' coach, has already decided on his structure for next season.
According to the outlet, the coach has already spoken to two players to pick up the 3rd and 4th captain's roles. The chosen two are Ronald Araujo and Robert Lewandowski. Sergi Roberto and Ter Stegen will be named first and second captain.
Although this doesn't appear to be a definitive decision, as other players from the squad could come forward and voting would come into play. Ousmane Dembele and Frenkie de Jong are two of the names that could step forward. In fact, the Dutch international wore the armband in the most recent clash against Valladolid.
"After much reflection and evaluation, I think the best thing to do is to step aside and I would like to announce that this season will be my last as a Barca player. It has not been an easy decision, but I am leaving happy and calm because I believe that the "cule" feeling is the best. See you Sunday at Camp Nou. Thanks culers and long live Barca!", finished Jordi Alba in an extract of the video he posted to announce his departure.
