Bayern Munich's Belgian coach, Vincent Kompany, in relation to the comparisons being made with Pep Guardiola, who coached the German side and also him when he played for City, said that "everyone has to live their own career as a coach".
The new coach of the Bavarian club, at a press conference, said that "Pep is perhaps the most special coach in the world", for whom he has "a lot of respect", but that he only thinks about what his "footballing ideas" are going to be.
"I believe in my personality and in being brave, (Manuel) Pellegrini and other coaches also helped me a lot. You have to feel and live your career as a coach," he added.
On his footballing approach, the Belgian said: "We don't talk so much about systems any more because the Bundesliga is a very good league and you can see that players can play with several of them.
"I have spoken to everyone so far. I talk to the defenders a lot. Sometimes it's about details and confidence to play aggressively. But also with possession to be in control. I'm lucky to be able to work at a very high level. We talk about positional play, pressing, movement or creating space... we know the profile of the players we have and their preferred positions. We are going to adapt to that," he stressed.
