Zubimendi puts the rumours to bed on Barca move

After a stellar season with Real Sociedad, Martin Zubimendi had been on Barcelona's wishlist as a possible replacement for departing legend Sergio Busquets.
But the San Sebastian native has not been particularly interested by the club's advances, despite being one of their summer priority signings.
In an interview with 'Diario Vasco', the Spaniard closed the door on a move to the Catalan side, making it clear he would prioritise staying with the club close to his heart, Real Sociedad:
"I'm more keen on picking up Illaramendi's '4' (jersey) than Busquets' '5'", said the Spanish international. Asier Illaramendi, a legend of Real Sociedad, said farewell to his club after the final match of the season against Sevilla, leaving his '4' jersey free.
Illaramendi played for Sociedad between 2008 and 2013, and then returned until the end of his career, from 2015 to 2023. His jersey is apparently calling out to Zubimendi, who wants to take it to new heights once again.
