Austria are clear that there is no better Austrian player right now than David Alaba. The Real Madrid footballer has won it again and he has been awarded it nine times since 2011.
The defender clearly beat striker Marko Arnautovic in the vote. 12 Bundesliga coaches voted for Alaba.
30 year-old David Alaba, who has 98 Austria caps, received 58 points in the vote compared to Arnautovic's 16.
Third place went to both RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer and Feyenoord defender Gernot Trauner, who got seven points.
"It makes me really happy. This prize is very important for me. It's a great award which makes me feel proud and grateful because it's a great honour for me," Alaba said in comments cited by 'APA'.
"I'm aware that it's be a special year and it makes me happy that my hard work is also recognised in my country," the defender added, in reference to Real Madrid's La Liga title and Champions League trophy last season.
Alaba had won the award on six consecutive occasions between 2011 and 2016.
