The bad news about Rodri has been confirmed. The midfielder, who suffered a heavy blow in a collision with Thomas Partey during the Sky Blues' fierce draw with Arsenal, will miss the rest of the season after the Mancunian side confirmed he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
The Cityzens confirmed in the statement that the La Roja international had travelled to Spain to seek special consultation but the full extent of the injury is not yet known, so assessment remains ongoing on the Spaniard for an expected prognosis.
"Manchester City FC can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury to his right knee. The midfielder travelled to Spain to seek specialist consultation this week, following initial tests in Manchester. Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the injury and expected prognosis," reads the statement.
Rodri has been touted as a potential Ballon d'Or winner this year after his influential role in City's record fourth consecutive Premier League title and Spain's success at Euro 2024. The former Atletico Madrid player has lost just one of his last 84 games for club and country.
