Di Maria, who ended his time with the Argentina national team in the Copa America final, could return to play for the ‘Albiceleste’ in the qualifiers against Chile. Jorgelina Cardoso, the ‘Fideo's wife, admitted on ‘Radio La Red’ that the idea of him playing 11 minutes - the number of his dorsal - to say goodbye to his people "is great".

Di Maria's wife Jorgelina Cardoso hinted on Wednesday that, despite the winger's announcement of his retirement from the national team after winning the Copa America, they would both like him to play a few minutes in the next official match for the ‘Albiceleste’.
'El Fideo's partner spoke to ‘Radio La Red’ about the possibility of the player playing 11 minutes, the number he wears on his shirt, in the match that Argentina will play against Chile in September, corresponding to the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
"I heard that they wanted to play his farewell match here. I don't know exactly if it's going to be like that but, to be honest, it's a great idea. He deserves it, the people who want to see him and who couldn't travel to the Copa America deserve it," he said.
Jorgelina Cardoso reflected that both would like such an initiative, and that the former Rosario Central, Real Madrid and PSG player would go "delighted", because people want to greet him and obviously "they both deserve it".
Di Maria, 36, started his 145th game for the Albiceleste in the Copa America final, in which the ‘Scaloneta’ beat Colombia 1-0.
Last November, after beating Brazil in a qualifier, Di Maria announced that his presence in the national team had an expiry date and that his international career would come to an end at the Copa America.
