The Sky Blues narrow win over Brentford is already part of the history of Ederson's Manchester City career. The Brazilian goalkeeper managed to keep yet another clean sheet, taking his tally to 150 for the English side since joining the club after a 40-million-euro transfer from Benfica in 2017.
The 150 clean sheets have come in just 321 games, meaning the Brazilian goalkeeper is approaching 50% of games without conceding a goal (46.73%) in his career as a Cityzen. Ederson made his debut as a Sky Blue on 12th August 2017, in a Brighton-Manchester City match that Pep Guardiola's side won 2-0, so he managed his first clean sheet as soon as he pulled on the gloves for the first time in England.
In that first campaign as a player of the British team he managed to leave without conceding 20 more times for a total of 21. Subsequently, in 2018-19 he kept 28, in 2019-20 he registered 20, in 2020-21 he hit 26, in 2021-22 he achieved 25, and in 2022-23 he added 19.
Although he is still more than 30 short of catching the legendary Joe Corrigan, Ederson left Joe Hart, who ended his time at Manchester City with 138 in 349 appearances (39.54%), behind him at the end of last season. In comparison with the last great goalkeepers who have played for teams in the Big Six, the Brazilian is the one with the best clean sheet percentage.
Ederson is followed by the 46.15% achieved by Petr Cech at Chelsea, where he kept a clean sheet in 228 of 494 games played. Liverpool legend Pepe Reina, with a total of 177 clean sheets in 394 games, scored 44.92% and Alisson, the Spaniard's best replacement at the Reds, is on 43.92% of clean sheets after 112 clean sheets in 255 games.
Finally, Manchester United legend David de Gea managed 190 clean sheets in his 545 games at Manchester United, 34.86% of the total, and Hugo Lloris left Tottenham this season with 33.78% of clean sheets after 151 in 447 games.
Back to Manchester City's Brazilian goalkeeper, the most impressive moments were against Burnley, with 9 clean sheets in 12 (75%) and 13 games (69.23%); against Newcastle and Chelsea, with 8 clean sheets in 13 games (61.54%); and against Brighton (63.64%), Crystal Palace (53.85%) and Arsenal (50%), all of them with 7 clean sheets in 11, 13 and 14 games.
