Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann will miss Saturday's game against Almeria and is a doubt for the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Athletic next week due to a sprained ankle suffered against Inter and detected in medical tests on Wednesday.
The Frenchman strained his joint in the 77th minute of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 first leg against the Italian side at the San Siro stadium, was replaced a minute later by Angel Correa and treated by the club's medical services on the same bench.
"Antoine had twisted his ankle. The ankle is noble, as a coach used to say," coach Diego Simeone told reporters after Tuesday's defeat. However, he is suffering from a sprain that puts him in doubt in a decisive stretch of the season, with the Copa del Rey, the Champions League and La Liga.
The club's medical report does not indicate the estimated recovery period, which is usually between two and four weeks for this type of injury, and limits itself to stating that "it is pending evolution", although he will miss Saturday's La Liga match against Almeria.
