The 2024/2025 season has started on an extremely positive note for 19-years-old Rico Lewis. With 4 starts in each of City's last 4 games, and an assist to add alongiside his solid perfomances, Lewis has quickly moved up the hierarchies of Pep Guardiola.
The young defender, now also midfielder, only had 17 starts in the previous season. Given the quality and number of options available in Man City's defensive department, one might consider taking a look at loan proposals to get more playing time under the belt - not Rico Lewis though.
“I never thought about going anywhere”, he stated. “I was training with the best players in the world and the best manager in the world day-in, day-out. It’s impossible not to learn stuff”, he told 'The Telegraph'.
He further explained how he used England's 2024 Euro campaign to nail down a starting place in the line up, motivating his stay at the club.
“I knew that England were doing very well in the Euros and that meant that the lads like John Stones and Kyle Walker would be coming late and that would give me opportunities on the tour and then the first few games" he told to 'Mirror'.
