Kevin De Bruyne could only play 23 minutes of Manchester City's Premier League opener against Burnley at Turf Moor. The Belgian playmaker had to be replaced by Mateo Kovacic after injuring his hamstring.
This is a huge blow for Pep Guardiola's side as the midfielder has been injured since the Champions League final against Inter Milan on 10th June. And he still does not appear to be fully recovered.
According to 'The Athletic', The 32-year-old will undergo a scan on Monday to find out how serious his injury is and how long he will be out of action. The season has only just begun and Manchester City are already dealing with major injuries.
The Belgium international could be unavailable to face Sevilla in the European Super Cup final. The Spanish manager estimated that De Bruyne could be sidelined for several weeks.
"It’s the hamstring again. Same position. I don’t know [how long he will be out] it depends on the magnitude of the injury but it will be a few weeks out," he told reporters.
"He felt really good and I spoke with him. He wanted to start. To play for 45 minutes was the idea. Maybe it was a mistake. But when someone is injured after 15-20 minutes, it’s not about that, it's about something wrong."
