Toni Kroos is facing his last weeks as a professional player. The German will retire once his country's participation in the European Championship is over. As a result, he is already beginning to see a future off the pitch.
In an interview with ‘Kicker’, the German midfielder assured that his future will continue to be linked to Real Madrid: "I will work in the youth academy", said the player.
"When I retire, I will spend my free time with my family, continue the podcast with my brother Felix and work with the Real Madrid youth academy. In September I will also start the Icon League that I founded with Elias Nerlich," said Kroos.
The German gave a simple reason why he has decided to retire: "Because I simply want to be remembered as 34-year-old Toni Kroos, who in the end played his best season for Real Madrid. I consider it a compliment that many people think it comes too soon".
"I always wanted to win titles. Ever since I started playing football I wanted to be successful. Every title is important to me, winning the Champions League was the big motivation before every season. To have achieved this at the end of the day is very important," the German added.
After this news that had the ‘Merengues’ fans happy, hours later the environment of the former Bayern Munich midfielder wanted to clarify those words. According to them, it is a translation error and what Kroos would have meant to say is that when he retires he will work in an academy he has created in Madrid.
This would come as a bit of a shock to the fans, who within a few hours had been led to believe that Kroos would not leave Real Madrid altogether after his retirement, even though it is believed that the club have the doors open for the German whenever he wants.
