Lamine Yamal is the biggest sensation in world football. At the age of 16, he became an undisputed starter at Barcelona and, at the age of 17, he won the European Championship with Spain.
In the middle of the international break, 'L'Equipe' has published a preview of an interview that will be published on Saturday. In it, Lamine Yamal talks about his early days at Barcelona and his recent successes.
"I always went everywhere with my ball. I used to carry it in a bag to school. In class, I used to hide it because the teacher wouldn't let me have it. I played against dogs, I always ran with them and playing against a dog is the hardest thing to do," he explained. "Playing in the street, one on one, took away my fear of playing in front of older people. They were 20 years old and I was 11," he added.
Lamine Yamal's precociousness and talent make one look to Lionel Messi: "I'm a guy who doesn't like to relax and go all out. I like it to be more difficult. I prefer not to play than to play everything. I prefer to have a legacy, your career. It's best not to look, but it doesn't bother me. If you're compared to the best player in history, you're doing something right."
Lamine Yamal also recalled his early days with the first team: "When I arrived, I had that one-on-one but I didn't have control. Playing as a team, faster or slower, I learnt that at Barcelona. It is the club that treats its players best. I was embarrassed the first day I walked into the first team dressing room. I was very nervous. Little by little I lost my embarrassment and when I made my debut, I wasn't nervous."
