Romeo Lavia's first year at Chelsea could be considered a failure. One of the star signings after shining at Southampton and taking him from Liverpool has been unlucky with injuries.
Lavia will not play again this season. At least that's what the Blues have specified, who say he will be out until the end of the campaign due to a thigh injury he picked up in December.
"Midfielder Romeo Lavia is to unfortunately miss the remainder of our 2023/24 campaign following a setback in his recovery," they wrote on their website
It was in December that he played his first and only game for Chelsea. It was 32 minutes against Crystal Palace before he got injured again. So, after costing 62 million euros, Lavia has cost the London club 1.93 million euros per minute played.
An ankle injury prevented Lavia from making his Chelsea debut at the start of the season. He had to wait four months before returning to Premier League action against Palace. After playing, he has not played since.
Chelsea have had many injury absentees this season, but none have been as costly as the former Southampton man.
