Liverpool were dealt a blow after it was confirmed that Joel Matip tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the Reds' win over Fulham and will miss the rest of the season.
The Anfield outfit will be forced to bring in defensive reinforcements in the winter transfer window to fill the void left by the Cameroonian centre-back's serious injury.
Although it has been two days since the bad news about Matip was confirmed, the Merseyside outfit have already targeted a possible replacement. Jurgen Klopp's side are ready to make a £30m January move for Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix.
The 23-year-old French defender began his career with French side Sochaux, before joining Wolfsburg, where he rose to prominence and became a key player for the Bundesliga outfit. In what is his fourth season in Germany, the defender has made 15 official appearances, all of them starts, scoring one goal.
