Luka Modric's renewal by Real Madrid has been sealed. The Croatian player will continue for another year, at least, as one of the leaders of the dressing room.
'Marca' even dared to give the date of the official renewal of the midfielder, who will sign his new contract with the Spanish club this coming Monday, 26th June.
Luka Modric remains at Real Madrid in the most uncertain summer since he joined Real Madrid from Tottenham.
A dizzying offer from Saudi Arabia had made the midfielder doubt whether leaving was the best option, in a summer that also saw the departure of Karim Benzema.
With Jude Bellingham's arrival, Real Madrid had covered the possible departure of Modric. It was time to let the player decide his own destiny for the 2023/24 season.
Real Madrid have gone, in less than a month, from having a shortage of midfielders to having too many. The renewals of Kroos and Modric, who will be joined by Ceballos, and Bellingham's signing have proved to be a problem for Ancelotti to solve.
There are up to 7 midfielders for 3 positions, 4 if Valverde returns to play as a false winger, that the Italian coach has in the squad for next season.
Modric, Kroos, Bellingham, Camavinga, Tchouameni, Valverde and Ceballos. There is not enough room for all of them and they will all be at least until June 2024.
