Paris Saint-Germain hit out at Kylian Mbappe on Friday when they ruled him out of their tour of Japan, the culmination of a conflict that continues to fester between the French champions and their star player.
Contractual law seems to be on Mbappe's side, as he can complete the final year of his contract and is not obliged to accept a transfer. The club is therefore using another weapon: depriving him of the tour of Japan and South Korea, which began on Saturday and will end on 3rd August.
A long pre-season training camp including three friendly matches (Al-Nassr, Cerezo Osaka and Inter Milan). All three matches will be played without PSG's superstar.
It seems that this decision caught the French side squad by surprise. According to 'RMC' journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the PSG players were astonished by their club's decision.
For his part, Mbappe has already been warned that he will no longer wear a PSG shirt if he does not extend his contract. And the way things are going, the Paris No7 could spend the 2023/24 season on the bench, or with PSG's reserve team, without playing a single minute in Ligue 1 or the Champions League.
In the meantime, the Bondy native continues to train in the Paris training complex with the 'undesired' players, a long way from Japan and the rest of his team-mates...
